Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (MEAN MARY) (3-1) - Very lightly raced filly has gone 4-3-1-0 since trainer Graham Motion moved her the grass in her second start. 4yo by 'Scat Daddy' was an easy gate-to-wire winner going 12 furlongs in the G3 La Prevoyante Stakes Jan. 25. She has a rating gear, room for upside, and she's worked three times at Palm Meadows since Feb. 29 for this attempt.
nd pick: #5 (Gentle Ruler) (7-2) - Mare by 'Colonel John' has been idle since Oct. 20 when she was a decisive winner of Keeneland's G3 Dowager Stakes at 12 furlongs. She won six of seven last year with four of those coming in stakes. A very strong win candidate.
rd pick: #2 (Kelsey's Cross) (10-1) - Longshot rallied from far back to finish a fast and closing 3rd going nine furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs in the Hillsborough Stakes (G2) March 7. It earned her a career-best figure that isn't far off the top two selections, and she draws a ground-saving post for this contest that starts at the beginning of the far turn.
th pick: #12 (Elizabeth Way) (4-1) - Irish-bred has won both starts at this meet after coming from her native land and a two-month layoff. She won a G3 stakes here Feb. 29, but this is a much tougher field and her outside post is a big negative. Lightly raced, she could factor, but she needs some big breaks to succeed.
th pick: #1 (Beale Street) (15-1) - The type that can 'run all day' without tiring. She won a first-level allowance here Feb. 23. 4yo has been competitive in seven of eight on the grass, has a ground-saving post, and it's noted that John Velazquez stays aboard his filly.
