New York bred gets a slim edge in another contest where boxing your bets is advised.
2nd pick: #9 (Super Mama) (5-1) - New York shipper tired going a mile facing tougher in an 'of the turf' race at Belmont Park Sept. 26. It was her first start in 17 1/2 months and this mare is back on the grass, down in class, and Irad Ortiz Jr is riding.
3rd pick: #1 (Sacrifice) (12-1) - Longshot ships from Aqueduct where she tired sprinting at this tag on the dirt Nov. 24. She had shown some ability in her previous pair on the grass facing tougher and she has a ground-saving post. Think this newly turned 4yo can factor at a big price.
4th pick: #2 (Mambo Dancer) (2-1) - The morning line and probable favorite, no-speed type is in the Pletcher barn and has made up ground late in all four starts facing tougher. On the sidelines since Oct. 10, she drops to a new low and has Luis Saez riding her for the first time.
5th pick: #5 (Bienville Street) (8-1) - This filly has shown improvement in her last six starts and has finished fourth in four of those. Freshened up since Nov. 14, she may get a share but needs to do better for any chance at winning this.
