Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #10 (UNLOCKTHEPOTENTIAL) (7-5) - Blinkers go on while this 5yo drops to a new low in his second back from a two-month break. He rallied to finish a close-up fourth here for a $50K tag Dec. 23, a contest where he raced very wide. Trainer Chad Brown worked him four times during January and believe all this gelding needs is an alert break and trouble-free trip to win this.
2nd pick: #9 (Sensational Sam) (10-1) - Grey gelding moves back to the turf and drops back down for this attempt. He finished a wide and even fourth going 7 furlongs on the dirt for a $30K tag Jan. 24 in his first since being claimed by 'Scooter' Dickey for $16K Nov. 9. He's best on the grass and should factor at a square price.
3rd pick: #4 (Rumbago) (15-1) - He's a bit light on figures but he does have the best early speed on paper. This 4yo gelding tired late to finish third here at this level Jan. 13 and has a fine overall record on the turf 8-1-2-2.
4th pick: #5 (Lemon Blitz) (4-1) - He enters off a 'throw out' race Dec. 30 when he stumbled over a horse that had broken down in front of him. Stretch runner was facing winners for the first time and was claimed that afternoon by Jane Cibelli for this $16K price tag. He had been sharp in all three starts at Belmont in the late summer/early fall and it's noted that Cibelli has Irad Ortiz Jr taking the mount.
