Top pick: #1 (OZONE) (7-2) - Filly chased and weakened here sprinting for a $35K claiming price on Jan. 24th. Good effort was her first ever on the grass. Trainer Gary Contessa drops her down a bit while stretching out in distance. Daughter of 'Songandaprayer' moves from the 12 post to the rail while retaining Javier Castellano. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #9 (One and Done) (3-1) - $200,000 daughter of 'Unbridled's Song' takes a big drop in class while racing with Lasix added. She hasn't shown much in three starts facing tougher, but fits with these on 'figures,' and at this low level is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Princess Zenyi) (10-1) - Longshot is another that is stretching out in distance. Filly exits the same Jan. 24th sprint as 'Ozone' and was only about a length off of her at the finish.
4th pick: #8 (Lucky Litigator) (6-1) - One of two entered by veteran Steve DiMauro, and the pair race uncoupled. Home bred by 'Quiet American' has raced evenly in all three starts to date. She's had trouble at the break in her last pair and is racing with blinkers on. A sharp half-mile gate breeze on Feb. 8th suggests a better effort is coming.
