Top pick: #3 (KATY'S STAR) (8-5) - Filly has a fine overall record this year at 9-3-1-2 and comes into this off a win at Del Mar on Aug. 2. All of her success has been on "poly" surfaces, but she's in career best shape and can take this if she handles the real dirt.
2nd pick: #5 (Victoria Shines) (4-1) - Grey filly comes into this on a three race winning streak and all have been on real dirt. She's followed the Fair circuit with wins at Sacramento, Santa Rosa, and Ferndale, and is a major factor this afternoon.
3rd pick: #6 (Jesse's Giacomo) (10-1) - Longshot runs second off a claim by Cody Autry and this filly has run well on real dirt in the past (5-1-1-1). Drops slightly and 3-year-old had a sharp work on Sept. 1 at Del mar before shipping north.
4th pick: #4 (Warren's Sugarbuzz) (5-2) - Home-bred from Ben Warren is one of two entered who has won on this course in the past and is training sharply for her first since early June and only her second appearance in the past 10 months. Strong finisher would love a fast and/or contested pace to develop.
