Grey gelding by 'Ghostzapper' is in top form having won a pair of G3s at this meet, which ran his local record to 8-3-3-0. Working fast for this assignment, I like his chances.
2nd pick: #3 (Fearless) (9-2) - This lightly raced and undefeated 4yo ships in from Gulfstream for his first stakes attempt. In the Pletcher barn, he won his debut going six furlongs Dec. 22, then was a visually impressive winner going 8.5 furlongs Feb. 1, a contest where he earned a huge figure. This is a big step up, but his early speed is a plus, and he obviously has plenty of room for upside.
3rd pick: #8 (By My Standards) (6-1) - The second of the pair from the Calhoun barn, this colt has always been highly thought of by his connections. He was a very sharp winner here going 8.5 furlongs over weaker on Feb. 9 in his first start since a troubled effort in last year's Kentucky Derby (G1) on May 4. Working fast, he completes a strong hand from the trainer.
4th pick: #1 (Lone Sailor) (8-1) - Strong finisher ships from Oaklawn where he defeated weaker Jan. 31 in his second start back off a 3.5-month layoff. He's run well here in the past, has a ground saving post, and has a solid record at this demanding distance (8-1-4-2).
