Top pick: #4 (MUCHO MACHO MAN) - The probable favorite won the Risen Star Stakes (G2) on this surface Feb. 19 in the second start of his 3-year-old campaign and has a trio of breezes at his home-base of Gulfstream Park in preparation for this important test. Has the best last "figure", a flexible style, and he's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #11 (Elite Alex) - Lightly-raced son of "Afleet Alex" finished an excellent third last out at Oaklawn in the G3 Southwest Stakes and did so from a tough outside post and a 6 wide trip. Draws another rough slot, but is working fast and is a major factor if rider Calvin Borel can avoid a wide journey.
3rd pick: #7 (Majestic Harbor) - Recent impressive maiden winner did so on this surface in his first back off a 2 1/2 month break and it was his first ever going around two-turns. Price play takes a big step up, but is a threat from off the pace.
4th pick: #2 (Nehro) - One of a pair entered by trainer Steve Asmussen and they'll race as separate interests. He rallied from a dozen lengths back to win by 4 1/2 in breaking his maiden at Oaklawn 5 weeks ago and looks like one of those late developing types that you have to keep an eye on.
