Top pick: #3 (MADAME CACTUS) - She was very impressive when winning the traditional local "prep" for this rich stakes when she won the $150K "My Trusty Cat" going 7 furlongs here Oct 19th. She's in the barn of Steve Asmussen, is undefeated on real dirt (2 for 2) and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Floral Sky) - Daughter of "Sky Mesa" cost $200K as a yearling in 2011 and has won 2 of her 3 starts. In the stable of one of the best in North America (Mark Casse), this filly has fine positional speed, and is bred to love today's added distance.
3rd pick: #5 (Cayllano) - She's one of two entered by trainer Tom Amoss and the pair race uncoupled. Last out she tracked, bid to the front, and tired late to finish 3rd, almost 4 lengths back of "Cactus". Effort came off a 70 day break, was encouraging, and she should move forward off of it.
