NEW gelding hasn't raced since late October of 2016 but any of his half-dozen starts that year would win this if repeatable. It's a long layoff and he's dropping way down in class. Very tough call as he could win this or finish last.
2nd pick: #7 (Oath of Office) (8-1) - Longshot has been freshened up since Dec. 27. He missed by a 'head' here at this level and distance Nov. 9 in his first since June 17 but regressed in his follow up pair. Working very fast for this attempt, he's a factor at a big price with his best.
3rd pick: #4 (Ten Silver Pins) (4-1) - Lightly-raced 4-year-old has finished second and third the two times he was in at this $5,000 price tag. Both came at shorter distances, but he has positional speed and broke his maiden here going 7 furlongs Oct 28.
4th pick: #3 (Brown's Monkey) (5-1) - Gelding by 'Big Brown' tired here racing for a $20K tag Jan. 19. It was his first ever in a claimer and his connections drop him down to the local bottom ($5,000) for this attempt. Must be left in the mix.
