Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (NAVY TYPIST) (2-1) - Expensive ($225,00) colt by 'Midnight Lute' rushed up and tired following a slow start when debuting here at this distance facing special weight foes Jan. 10. 2nd pick: #1 (Nasty Critter) (9-2) - Gelding tired last out but still finished in front of the debuting 'Navy Typist'. Another dropping to a new low, the last time he was in a claimer Three-year-old finished second, going 6 furlongs at Remington Park for a $20K tag Nov. 4. A strong win candidate today.
3rd pick: #2 (Always a Wiseguy) (6-1) - Colt ships from Oaklawn where he raced evenly going 6 furlongs for a $25K claiming price Jan. 12. He makes his local debut and drops down to this $10K tag for the first time.
4th pick: #7 (One Drop) (5-1) - On the sidelines since Nov. 18, he showed little in a pair of starts at Remington Park facing tougher last fall. Trainer Steve Asmussen is 8-for-23 (35%) at this meet, drops him into a claimer for the first time (16%). Son of 'Lemon Drop Kid' was 15 lengths in back of 'Nasty Critter' last out so he has to do much better for anything more than a minor award.
