Top pick: #6 (EAST OF DANZIG) (7-2) - Strong finisher is rounding into form following a five month layoff and comes off a troubled effort here at this level June 25th. Veteran had missed by a "neck" in his previous start at Pimlico and he should relish this longer distance.
2nd pick: #4 (Frozen Four) (12-1) - He has much more early speed than most and has become a much better horse this year than last. Nicely bred and 4-year-old by "Pulpit" is a win candidate at long odds.
3rd pick: #5 (East Bound Train) (6-1) - One of two entered by former steeplechae rider Ricky Hendricks and this gelding is racing into shape following a very long layoff (nine months). Long-winded type should factor with the underrated Kendrick Carmouche aboard.
4th pick: #8 (Northwood Bully) (8-1) - Veteran ships down from Monmouth where he was competitive in three of five starts during the summer racing on the grass. Jersy bred would benefit the most if the speed doesn't hold up at crunch time.
