It was a big improvement over her dirt debut Aug. 1st, and she gets a slight edge in a competitive finale.
2nd pick: #1 (Aquacate) (9-2) - Daughter of 'Sky Mesa' moves back in with maidens after racing both wide and evenly in a turf stakes Oct. 10th at Santa Anita. She had finished 2nd here at this level and distance Sept. 7th and is breaking from the ground saving rail. Obvious win threat.
3rd pick: #5 (Jeremy's Legacy) (6-1) - Price play makes her North American debut after a pair of starts in her native Ireland. Lasix is added by her new trainer (Doug O'Neill), and this filly showed some ability in her latest before getting on the plane.
4th pick: #8 (Dreamarcher) (5-1) - $150K purchase stretches out after a pair of even efforts that saw her finish a non-threatening 3rd in both. Last out she was 4 1/2 behind 'Two Steps of Glory,' but the added distance and the fact she's making back-to-back starts may narrow that gap considerably.
5th pick: #3 (Sheza Milky Way) (4-1) - Even paced type moves back to the turf and back in with maidens after a very poor effort in a dirt stakes Sept. 26th at Santa Anita. Filly had finished 4th in both turf starts prior to that and each was at this mile distance. Stretch threat.
