Stalker won the G3 La Golla here going 8.5 furlongs Aug. 5 and is a perfect two for two at this nine-furlong distance. He gets top billing on today's card.
2nd pick: #8 (Ride a Comet) (7-2) - Improving stretch runner ships from Saratoga where he rallied to finish 3rd in the Hall of Fame Stakes (G2) Aug. 3. He's now won three of four on the grass and earned a career best figure last out.
3rd pick: #11 (Majestic Eagle) (12-1) - Longshot draws a tough outside post, but has enough positional speed to not be forced into a wide trip in the early stages. He loves this distance (3-2-1-0) and defeated weaker here at it July 19.
4th pick: #5 (Arawak) (8-1) - He seems to thrive on being active and is making his 15th start this afternoon. Son of 'Uncle Mo' rallied to finish 2nd here to 'River Boyne' in a G3 stakes Aug. 5 and has been much improved overall in his last four attempts.
5th pick: #9 (Take the One O One) (10-1) - The main speed, this state bred is stretching back out in distance, and is facing 'open' stakes foes in this spot. He won a $200K turf stakes at this trip facing fellow Cal breds June 2 at Santa Anita and is way too sharp to dismiss at what will be a big price.
