Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (LA SHIRIMP) (5-1) - A lightly raced 3yo, she rallied to finish 2nd sprinting at this level June 2 at Santa Anita. Only her third career attempt, it was her second back from a 6.5-month layoff after she ran well when debuting in Ireland last Sept. I give her a slight edge today.
2nd pick: #4 (Catch the Eye) (8-1) - Well bred filly had a very wide trip when missing by 1.5 lengths at this level and distance while going a mile June 23 at Santa Anita. A daughter of 'Quality Road,' she's clearly improving and is a win candidate with a better journey.
3rd pick: #7 (Unicorn) (7-2) - A daughter of 'Bodemeister,' she's finished 2nd in both attempts, the latest going a mile Feb. 16 at Santa Anita. Owned and trained by Rich Baltas, the very selective Victor Espinoza is aboard.
4th pick: #9 (Zest) (4-1) - A lightly raced home bred by 'Tapit,' she finished a solid 3rd at this level going a mile June 23 at Santa Anita. It was a career best, she's worked fast since, and Hall of Famer Mike Smith stays with her.
