Top pick: #5 (QUICK SAVE) - Speedy gelding has his problems with only two lifetime starts as he nears his fifth birthday, but he showed good early foot last out at this level going a mile here August 3rd. Trainer Carla Gaines (who's having a srong meet) cuts him back in distance and has him making back-to-back starts for the first time.
2nd pick: #12 (Bev n Bud) - Grey gelding has finished second in three of his last four and draws a nice outside post for this distance and his stalking style. Home-bred is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #9 (In High Regards) - Has a new trainer (Don Warren) and he has this colt training fast for his first start since July 5th. 4-year-old has a touch of speed and Warren's main-rider (Pat Valenzuela is aloft).
4th pick: #11 (Bellagio Road) - Claimed out of his debut in late january at santa Anita by Kristin Mulhall for $20K, he did not run again until July 27th when he had a troubled start facing state-bred special weights. Blinkers go on, drops in class, and his connections bring him back quickly for this.
