Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (HAVE AT IT) (5-1) - He just missed (1/2) length to today's presumed favorite # 4 'River Boyne' in the G2 Twilight Derby at this distance Nov. 4 at Santa Anita. It was an excellent effort and came in his first ever on the West Coast. Home bred by 'Kitten's Joy' has the rail and gets a slight edge in a very competitive contest. My advice is to make sure you box your bets in this one.
nd pick: #4 (River Boyne) (9-5) - The morning line and likely favorite, Irish import has won four stakes this year and has been competitive in two others. His stalking gear is a plus in this big field and he won the G3 La Jolla Stakes on this course Aug. 5. An obvious win candidate.
rd pick: #6 (Raging Bull) (7-2) - French-bred didn't fire Oct. 6 at Belmont Park in the G2 Hill Prince Stakes while just over 2 lengths in back of 'Have At It' that afternoon. Heavily favored in that one, he had won 4-of-5 on the grass prior to that including a pair of stakes victories at Saratoga. He must be left in the mix.
th pick: #2 (Kazan) (20-1) - Very wide last out in Santa Anita's Twilight Derby (G2), he was almost 4 lengths behind 'River Boyne' while about 3 in back of 'Have At It'. He had finished a 1/2 length ahead of 'Boyne' here Sept. 2 and has a shot at a big price.
th pick: #9 (Platinum Warrior) (12-1) - One of five foreign breds entered, Irish import was making up ground late in the Twilight Derby (G2) Nov 4. A Group 3 winner in his native land, his outside post and a lack of early speed may limit him to a minor award at a big price.
