Claimed that afternoon by Doug O'Neill, he raced both wide and evenly there June 8 going a mile facing Optional-$40K claimers/N1X foes in his first for the new barn. Freshened up since, he's working above average, is nicely spotted, and Raf Bejarano stays aboard.
2nd pick: #5 (Fast as Cass) (6-1) - He's switching back to the turf after checking in a very distant third here at this level and distance on the main track July 17. It was his first start in two months and he had been competitive in three of four on the Santa Anita grass prior to the layoff. A win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Spanish Bay) (9-2) - A lightly raced and well bred 4yo, gelding by 'Tapit' switches back to the grass while stretching out in distance. Speed/stalker is working fast for his first since May 5 and think he'll be competitive in his first facing winners.
4th pick: #11 (River God) (8-1) - Longshot rallied to win by a 1/2 length going 5 furlongs on the Santa Anita grass for a $75K tag June 21. Competitive at this distance in his previous pair, 3yo is a threat to make it two in a row.
