Top pick: #3 (SHALLOT) (5-1) - Reddam home bred is going turf to dirt and dropping in class. Three-year-old broke her maiden on the Los Alamitos dirt July 3, then ran fifth of eight, beaten 4-lengths sprinting on the local turf in an allowance for Cal. breds. A solid effort and this improving filly gets a slight edge.
nd pick: #1 (Sparkling Peg) (10-1) - Lightly-raced filly set a pressured pace and held gamely to break her maiden here at this trip for a $20K tag Aug 5. It was her second off a Bill Spawr claim and the veteran trainer has her nicely spotted in her first facing winners.
rd pick: #5 (Sweet Mz. Poppet) (6-1) - Speedy filly was an easy gate-to-wire maiden winner here on a sloppy surface July 18. She tired facing tougher here in her first first facing winners Aug 7. She's worked well since and trainer Pete Miller drops her way down in class. Win candidate.
th pick: #6 (Matter of Luck) (9-2) - Grey filly is lightly raced and clearly improving. A maiden winner here July 24, she showed much improved speed that day when racing with blinkers on for the first time. Don't just ignore this Harris Farm's home bred.
th pick: #10 (Little Bit Lucky) (5-1) - Un-raced since May 17, lightly raced 4-year-old is working well and is dropping in class. She showed some promise back in the spring of 2014, but was away from action for 9-months . Trainer Eric Kruljac adds blinkers for her return.
