Top pick: #12 (SUPER DEFENCE) (5-2) - She's been freshened up since early July when she weakened when facing much tougher on the Los Alamitos dirt. Working nicely locally for this attempt, trainer Rick Baltas drops her in class and has Bejarano aboard.
2nd pick: #14 (Jaycee's Faith) (7-2) - Daughter of "Sky Mesa" is on the also-eligible list and needs a pair of scratches in the main body to compete. She raced evenly here at this level Aug. 6, and will be making back-to-back starts for the first time. A major player if she draws in.
3rd pick: #1 (Afleet Echo) (9-2) - Stalker comes off a career best when she finished third when sprinting on the Los Alamitos dirt July 13th. She's worked fine here since and draws the rail for her first ever on a synthetic surface.
4th pick: #4 (L L Cool Jo) (10-1) - Price play fished 4th of 10, beaten just over 10 lengths racing here at this level going 5.5-furlongs on July 31st. It was her first in 13 months, first at this tag, and first on a "poly" surface. The extra furlong today is in her favor.
5th pick: #2 (Coccabella Myst) (5-1) - Home bred raced evenly when checking in third when debuting at this tag at Los Alamitos July 11th. Nice effort and trainer Mike Puype has worked her four times since. Must be left in the mix.
