Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (COILS GOLD) (5-1) - Speed/stalker had a tough trip between horses when finishing second at this level and distance going 5.5 furlongs at Los Alammitos July 7. It was his first race in four months and he's been training fast locally. Has a solid shot at a possible upset and you get trainer Bob Baffert at a square price for a change.
2nd pick: #9 (The Street Fighter) (7-5) - The morning line and probable favorite is working very fast at Del Mar for his first start since May 11. He finished third at Santa Anita that afternoon at this level and did so after a poor break. An obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Touching Rainbows) (3-1) - Four-year-old missed by a neck facing slightly weaker foes going seven furlongs at Santa Anita July 1. It was his first start since Dec. 1, first for trainer Phil D'Amato, and by far a career best. Another working fast locally and he must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #1 (Overcomer) (8-1) - Fast from the gate, he dueled with 'Coils Gold' last out before weakening to finish third, two lengths in back of that foe. It was his first race in 8.5 months and he draws the rail today. His early speed must be respected.
