Top pick: #1 (PEARL DE VERE) (3-1) - Filly enters off a solid effort at this level and distance at Santa Anita on June 29th. racing in her second back off a 3 1/2 month break she was involved every step and missed by a "head." Daughter of "Songandaprayer" has been competitive here without winning (3-0-2-1), and is working well locally for this attempt.
2nd pick: #4 (Moscato Girl) (5-1) - Three-year-old has been a steady performer 8-1-3-3 since being claimed by trainer John Sadler for $30K this past January. She finished second here when still a maiden in her only previous local appearance and is a threat at a square price.
3rd pick: #7 (On Golden Pawn) (4-1) - Speedy filly by "Tiznow" pressed a quick pace following a "bobbling" break in the same last race as "Pearl." She weakened from that exertion in the final furlong and was 4 1/2 back of that rival on the wire. Dangerous today with an alert beginning.
4th pick: #9 (Bird in Love) (10-1) - She was a sharp maiden winner here on July 17th when racing for a $20K tag in her first off a Vann Belvoir claim. Nicely spotted in her first facing winners, this improving English import is a late threat at a big price.
