Top pick: #7 (WORLWIDE) (3-1) - He's one of two entered by trainer Ron Ellis and the pair race uncoupled. Colt by 'Big Brown' rallied to miss by a 1/21 length here July 29. It was his first since debuting at Santa Anita June 7. $135K colt has worked three times since and gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #5 (Diablo Caballero) (7-2) - Strong finisher is racing back into shape after being away for 8 1/2 months. He's going turf to dirt and shortening up in distance. The last time he ran on the dirt, he missed by a 'neck' last October at this level at Santa Anita.
3rd pick: #3 (Real Big Deal) (8-1) - NEW gelding is another going from grass to the main track. Even paced type is lightly-raced, working fast, and is a threat at a square price.
4th pick: #11 (The Custodian) (12-1) - Long time maiden disappointed here going a mile on the grass Aug 16. It was his first since June 27 when he finished third on the Santa Anita dirt. He has a nice post for this trip and this field is not a strong one for the level.
5th pick: #10 (The Bench Rules) (15-1) - The second of the Ellis pair, he debuts late in his 3-year-old season. Working steadily and can factor at long odds if ready.
