Premium Pick

Top pick: #4 (FOREST BLUE) (7-2) - He lost a heart-breaker here on opening day when he missed by a 'nose' in the $116K Oceanside Stakes. A career best, it was his first start since May 30 and first ever on the grass. Speed/stalker is the horse to beat.

2nd pick: #11 (Dallas Skyline) (8-1) - Son of turf sire 'Scat Daddy' has been competitive in all five grass starts. He broke his maiden here on the grass at this distance in late July of last year and then finished fourth in a pair of grass stakes. Sent in for a 7 1/2 month layoff, he's run well in both return races. Training nicely since coming here from Churchill Downs and he's a threat at a square price if able to avoid a wide trip.

3rd pick: #5 (Seve's Road) (6-1) - Strong finisher moves back to the turf after finishing a distant second at this level in a switched contest July 18. He's gone 4-1-1-1 on the grass and gelding would love a fast and/or contested pace to rally into.

4th pick: #9 (The Gomper) (9-2) - Another who likes to come-from-behind, he rallied to check in second of 11, beaten just under a length racing at this level and distance June 6 at Santa Anita. Consistent sort was making his turf debut and is from the Hollendorfer barn.

5th pick: #8 (Chiropractor) (6-1) - NEW gelding is very lightly-raced and is working above average for his west coast debut. Home bred by 'Kitten's Joy' broke his maiden at Delaware Park June 17 and did so despite a troubled trip. He may be a talented one and must be left in the mix.
