Top pick: #3 (RIDEO) (9-2) - One of three making their debuts, colt has been working steadily since early May and had a bullet 3-furlong gate breeze June 15. "Hall of Famer" Rick Mandella is calling the shots and has been hot in the early stages of this meet (11-3-3-3).
nd pick: #9 (Handful of Stripes) (10-1) - Grey colt ships in from Churchill where he tired when sprinting on the dirt surface there debuting June 19. Trainer Mike Stidham (27% second time out) moves him to the turf and stretches him out in distance. Price play.
rd pick: #8 (Rare Candy) (2-1) - The probable favorite, he rallied to miss by less than a length when debuting in a 5-furlong turf sprint at Belmont June 7. Working fast since shipping west, and an obvious win threat.
th pick: #7 (Midvale Magic) (8-1) - Heavily backed when debuting at Santa Anita June 6, he raced evenly after a slow start. Working fast since, the Hollendorfer barn moves him to the grass and sends him longer.
th pick: #2 (Scattastrophe) (12-1) - Another that's debuting, son of 'Scat Daddy' sold for $280K this past April as a 2yo in training at Ocala. Working above average, and trainer Simon Callaghan can have one ready first out.
