Top pick: #4 (THE CUSTODIAN) (9-2) - He's had a lot of chances, but in his defense he's been competitive in most of his turf starts. Reddam home bred has been freshened up since late June and looks set for a big effort at a square price.
2nd pick: #5 (Diablo Caballero) (8-1) - Win candidate and I almost made him the top choice. He raced very wide from a tough outside post here July 22. 4yo had rallied to miss by a 'nose' in his previous start and draws a better slot and has blinkers added.
3rd pick: #9 (Ace Deuce) (20-1) - Longshot has regressed lately after finishing 2nd in four straight starts earlier in his career. He has speed/stalking ability and catches a field where he may be in this from start-to-finish at a huge price.
4th pick: #2 (Sir Cal) (7-2) - No speed type has had to rally from far back in his last pair. His connections add blinkers in an attempt to get him involved earlier. Leading rider Bejarano is back aboard.
5th pick: #8 (Unusualy) (5-1) - Improving 3yo rallied to finish 2nd here at this level and distance July 22. A career best, it was his second back off a brief layoff. Must be left in the mix.
