Top pick: #8 (CACAU) (8-1) - Thought he looked sharp in his maiden win at Hollywood on June 27th, which came going six furlongs off a two month freshening. Bet heavily in all five starts, he's working fast locally, and stretches out in distance for his first facing winners. He'll be a nice price.
nd pick: #10 (This Ones for Mel) (9-2) - Gelding has finished second in all three west coast starts since coming from Florida in early spring and joining the barn of Pete Miller. 3yo has a fine race on this surface on July 17th, and speed/stalker is a win candidate.
rd pick: #2 (Little Jerry) (7-2) - He was a bit sub-par here at this level and distance on July 19th, and that broke a string of four straight solid efforts. A bullet drill on this course Aug. 1 suggests he's ready to rebound.
th pick: #3 (Tiz Fitting) (20-1) - Longshot has a strong late kick and almost always puts in a solid effort. Fits, and can factor at a big price.
th pick: #4 (Meydan Magic) (5-2) - Lightly raced, he moves up in class after finishing second at Hollywood facing weaker on July 11th. Working fine, has talent, and room for upside.
