Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (SMART KNOWS SMART) (10-1) - Like the majority entered, longshot moves to the grass for the first time. He raced evenly from a tough rail post sprinting at Santa Anita Oct. 14 in his first since arriving from Indiana Downs. Bred for the turf, colt runs off a private trainer change to Peter Miller (28 of 111, 25%) with new arrivals over the past 22.5 months. Has a good shot at a big price.
2nd pick: #2 (Buck Duane) (9-2) - Speedy colt has tired to finish fourth in both dirt sprints after setting/pressing the pace in each. Bred to handle the turf, he breaks just off the rail and should be involved every step.
3rd pick: #5 (Croissant) (12-1) - Another longshot, Reddam owned and bred colt has had traffic issues in both dirt sprints. He flashed early speed in each and most by stallion 'Square Eddie' handle the lawn. A bullet half-mile work Oct. 30 suggests a big effort is coming at a juicy price.
4th pick: #8 (Jersey's Hest) (7-2) - Gelding stretches out in distance after rallying to finish third at this level going 6.5 furlongs at Santa Anita Oct. 26. It was a big move forward over his dirt debut and he should like the additional yardage.
