Avila after 4-year-old showed some speed and tiring in a pair at Hollywood on the grass facing much tougher. Working well for this and he drops way dow, goes turf to "poly", and has his blinkers removed after a one race experiment.
2nd pick: #5 (Nearly Was Mine) - He finished a close-up third at Hollywood at this tag and trip July 6th and will a rider upgrade for this attempt to Victor Espinoza. He's run well in both starst since dropping dow to this price and is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #9 (Cheezy Breezy) - He was scratched out of yesterday's last race to await this spot. One-paced type was a bit more than a length back of "Nearly" last out and that was his first off a 7 week freshening. Fits and is a late threat.
