Colt has excellent early speed and trainer Doug O'Neill will stretch him back out in distance. Three-year-old finished second going two-turns last fall and is a better runner now. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #7 (Cook Inlet) - He regressed in his latest to finish a close-up sixth of nine, beaten two lengths at Hollywood as a heavy favorite July 10. Son of "Candy Ride" has run second in his previous pair and is a win candidate with a repeat of either of those.
3rd pick: #1 (Hy Hand Poker) - Price play came west with the balance of trainer Dallas Keen's string about a month ago. Gelding by "With Distinction" improved noticeably in his second start and he'll be trying a two-turn trip for the first time. Has the rail, a pair of fine local works, and is a threat at a nice price.
