Top pick: #6 (EVERTON) (5-2) - He's one of two lightly raced colts from the barn of Bob Baffert, and will be trying a two-turn distance for the first time. 4yo son of "Indian Charlie" broke his maiden when debuting at Hollywood on May 5th, then was probably best when beaten a "head' in an entry-level allowance, going seven furlongs on June 22nd. Colt "bobbled" at the break that day, and had to be rushed up to track a fast pace. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Curly Top) (3-1) - The second of the Baffert duo, colt by "Curlin" has gone 5-1-3-1) overall, and last out finished second at Hollywood on June 28th, facing a bit tougher at this trip. One run type completes a strong hand from the "Hall of Fame" conditioner.
3rd pick: #5 (Holy Candy) (3-1) - He held a lot of promise early in 2012, but hasn't seen action since being "vanned off' here on opening day of the 2012 meet. Working fine for his return, he may "need one," but is a strong factor if ready with his best.
4th pick: #8 (God Of War) (8-1) - He's one of two entered who has won four races, and one of them came on this course almost a year ago. Brazilian-bred is working nicely for his first since late March when he was a winner on an allowance at Golden Gate Fields.
