Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (MASTER RYAN) (2-1) - This lightly raced 4yo has been competitive in all five starts, each sprinting on the grass. At this state-bred level, he's 4-0-2-2, and he missed by a 'head' here at it July 12. It was his 2nd back off a 10-month layoff, and he'll be tough to beat from his rail post.
2nd pick: #3 (Caerulean) (5-1) - A Reddam homebred, he's improved a great deal since Ben Cecil switched him to the grass two starts ago. He missed by a 1/2 length here at this level and distance July 12 and was that margin behind 'Master Ryan.' A win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Jungle Roar) (12-1) - Longshot is one of two entered by Jeff Mullins. Even paced in two straight at this level going a mile on the grass, the barn shortens him up, and he has the superb grass rider Umberto Rispoli aboard for the first time.
4th pick: #8 (Spud) (9-2) - The second of the Mullins pair, he rallied from far back after a slow break to finish 4th, not far off of either 'Master Ryan' and 'Caerulean.' Homebred has worked three times since and must be left in the mix.
