Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (CARIBBEAN) (7-2) - This rare Australian bred is lightly raced and has been on the sidelines since Aug. 30 when he finished 2nd here at this level and distance. The winner that day scored again next out, and the 3rd place runner broke his maiden Oct. 4 at Santa Anita. Working steadily, he has room for upside, and gets top billing in this one.
2nd pick: #7 (Justin's Quest) (5-2) - He rated, bid while between horses, but had to settle for a distant 2nd place finish Oct. 4 at Santa Anita. 3yo has worked four times since, has a speed/stalking style, and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Causeididitmyway) (20-1) - Longshot has early speed and is moving up in class while going turf to dirt. He tired late after forcing a quick pace at this distance for a $50K tag on the Santa Anita grass Oct. 28. Well bred 3yo breaks just off the rail and may be competitive at a very big price.
4th pick: #3 (Dawood) (12-1) - Colt sold for $675,000 as a yearling back in Sept. of 2016. Son of 'Giant's Causeway' hasn't show much in four starts on the grass and runs for the first time on the dirt off a 2.5-month freshening and off a trainer change to Rick Baltas (19% with new arrivals to his barn).
