Premium Pick

Top pick: #5 (BETTY'S BAMBINO) (7-2) - Home bred by "Unusual Heat" set a very fast & pressured pace before weakening to finish third at this level going 6.5-furlongs at Santa Anita June 14. Solid effort came off a seven-week break, and trainer Pete Eurton will shorten him up in distance for this attempt.

2nd pick: #4 (Cherubim) (4-1) - Very fast from the gate, stakes placed son of "Henny Hughes" ships back from Belmont where he ran third on the dirt June 15. Bred to handle the turf, colt should be involved every step.

3rd pick: #10 (Incline Village) (3-1) - The "morning line" favorite, 5yo gelding by "Unbridled's Song" has a fine record on the grass (7-1-3-2), and last out at Golden Gate Fields just missed in a small stakes at this distance. Working fast since, he's a win candidate from just off the pace.

4th pick: #1 (Melatonin) (6-1) - Colt has been freshened up since breaking his maiden at Santa Anita on Feb. 6 in a contest that was switched "off the turf." He had been competitive prior to that on both grass & "poly," is working fast for his return, and breaks from the rail.

5th pick: #6 (Final Step) (12-1) - Very lightly raced, he tired badly at this level on the Santa Anita dirt in late June. It was his first start since last October when he showed a lot of talent in his first two appearances. Bred to handle the grass, he may impact at long odds.
