Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (JIMMY CHILA) (6-1) - Colt broke his maiden going 6.5 furlongs on the Santa Anita turf May 27. Stalker came back with an even effort there at the same trip June 15 facing optional-$75k claimers/n1x foes in his first against winners. He's worked four times since, drops in class, is stretching out in distance, and he has the rail. Nicely spotted and he has a good chance at a square price.
2nd pick: #3 (Kylemore) (5-1) - Speed/stalker drops down after tiring facing tougher at this distance June 1 at Santa Anita. Gelding broke his maiden here in early October and has been competitive in four of six since, all against better foes. He draws a good post and should factor.
3rd pick: #9 (Ayacara) (5-2) - English import has been freshened up for two months and returns as a NEW gelding. Stakes placed on both dirt and poly, he finished fourth of five, beaten almost 3 lengths in his grass debut May 20 at Golden Gate Fields in a $75K stakes at this trip. No-speed type draws a tough outside post and will need to work out a trip at a short price.
4th pick: #7 (Upo) (5-1) - One of two entered by trainer Peter Miller, he's stretching out off a pace-chasing fourth place finish going 6.5 furlongs June 22 at Santa Anita facing older $50K starter-allowance foes. Bred to handle this longer trip, he should be involved from gate-to-wire.
