Top pick: #7 (KRISTO) (5-2) - Colt by "Distorted Humor" cost $500,000 last fall at Keeneland and makes his debut off of a string of very fast works dating back to late June. The Sadler barn has had an excellent meet and wins at a 21% rate with first-time starters.
nd pick: #5 (Roundupthelute) (3-1) - He debuts for the Baffert barn (22% first out), and this colt by "Midnight Lute" cost $230K this past March as a 2-year-old in training. Initially prepared at Santa Anita, he has a pair of very sharp back-back local works in the past 12 days. Win candidate.
rd pick: #3 (Papa's Paisley) (8-1) - He's one of two that have started and this colt showed fine early speed before weakening here at this level and distance July 27th. Price play draws a tough field, but should be involved all the way at long odds.
th pick: #1 (Quick and Silver) (12-1) - Grey gelding from the first crop of "Dunkirk" raced evenly when debuting here Aug. 3 and will get the addition of blinkers for this attempt. A pair of fast works since he ran indicate he could factor at a big price.
th pick: #4 (Melatonin) (5-1) - Debuting colt is in a good first-out barn (Jeff Bonde 20%) and son of "Kodiak Kowboy" is working fast locally after being initially prepared on the Pleasanton dirt.
