Top pick: #6 (HOME SCHOOL) (5-2) - The field's most experienced runner, he's stakes placed twice on this course. Speed/stalker finished third here on the "Opening Day" of this meet (July 17) in the $116k "Oceanside" stakes and did so after setting a swift pace. Irish import has worked since and gets a slight edge this afternoon.
2nd pick: #2 (Taelyn's Prince) (3-1) - Lightly raced, talented, and this gelding by grass champ "English Channel" has been freshened up since breaking his maiden going "down the hill" at Santa Anita in late May. He has local experience, is working fast, and is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Toowindytohaulrox) (7-2) - No speed type rallied from far back to finish fourth here at this level July 19. It was a solid effort and came in his second back from a pair of layoffs. Working fast since, he draws the rail, and must be left in the win mix.
4th pick: #8 (Clever Royal) (6-1) - Strong finisher is the field's lone multiple runner, and he's visited the winner's circle three times. Colt won impressively here July 25 and was claimed that afternoon for $40K by veteran Eddie Truman. Much improved since moving to the turf and a late threat at a square price.
