Top pick: #7 (LUCKY JACK) (3-1) - He's been on the sidelines since late Feb. when he raced evenly facing much tougher on the Santa Anita turf. Trainer Carla Gaines drops him way down in class and has this Harris Farm's home-bred working steadily for his return.
nd pick: #8 (Tribal Master Man) (15-1) - Gelding by "Tribal Rule" had a tough rail post in his debut and tired after encountering some traffic problems at the 1/4 pole. Claimed that day by Bob Diodoro for $20K, he has him working fast and brings him back at the purchase price. New barn wins at a 29% rate first off the claim. Price play.
rd pick: #1 (Burning ) (6-1) - He enters off a career best when he rallied to finish fourth of nine, beaten two lengths racing at this level on June 28 at Pleasanton. It was his first start since early October, and the Hollendorfer barn stretches him out in distance and brings him back quickly.
th pick: #4 (Juliet's Tizzy) (7=2) - He just missed racing for a $30K tag on the Santa Anita dirt on May 8. Gelding by "Tiznow" has raced evenly in his last pair and will be going dirt to "poly" for this attempt. Must be left in the mix.
th pick: #5 (Mahalo Arturo) (6-1) - From the same barn as "Juliet" (Doug O'Neill), he raced evenly when debuting at Santa Anita facing tougher going a mile last Oct. Unraced since, he's been working fast at Los Alamitos for his return and will be dropping way down in class.
