Top pick: #6 (HORIZINTALYSPEAKIN) (6-1) - Very lightly raced gelding comes off a career best when he set a fast pace and tired late to finish fourth at Hollywood on June 22nd, racing at this level going a mile. Trainer John Sadler has worked him three times since and will race him without blinkers for the first time.
nd pick: #1 (Layton Regristry) (3-1) - Kentucky invader has been competitive in four straight on the grass, and last out missed by a head going nine furlongs. Strong finisher has the rail, and was working fast at Keeneland before shipping to California.
rd pick: #7 (Corinthian's Song) (5-1) - Grey colt has raced well in six grass races, and two back just failed at Hollywood at this distance and condition. Working fast since, and is a win candidate.
th pick: #10 (Maxx the Giant) (6-1) - He has some early speed, and finished second last out at Hollywood racing at this level. His outside post is of no help, and he needs to avoid being hung wide into the first turn.
th pick: #8 (Apostle Paul) (7-2) - Colt fits but he does have a bit of "hang" in him at "crunch" time. That said, he reunites with Bejarano after a one race absence, and will be cutting back in distance for his first in almost two months.
