Top pick: #6 (VENETIAN) (7-2) - Filly showed fine early speed here facing tougher on the grass July 19th. Daughter of "More Than Ready" is racing into shape following a 8 1/2 month layoff and will be dropping into a claimer for the first time.
nd pick: #9 (Wild Caroline) (5-1) - She exits the same last race as "Venetian" and was only a 1/2 length back of her at the finish. She takes the same class drop, is working well, and is racing third back from a 10-month layoff. Win candidate.
rd pick: #4 (Lamazone) (4-1) - Filly by "Lemon Drop Kid" rallied from far back to finish second at this tag on the Santa Anita turf June 28th. On the sidelines since, she's working fine locally for what will be her first ever on a synthetic surface.
th pick: #8 (Bow Tie Belle) (3-1) - She stretches out after finishing 4th of 6, beaten 2 1/2 lengths going 6.5-furlongs here at this level on Aug. 1. It was her best yet and came off a positive trainer change to Jerry Hollendorfer. Working fine since, she stretches out in distance and has Bejarano aboard for the first time.
th pick: #3 (Barb's Angel) (8-1) - She raced evenly following a troubled start to finish a distant third when debuting here going 6-furlongs for a $40K tag July 24th. Claimed that day by Barry Abrams, he brings her back a month later at the purchase price and stretches her out in distance.
