Top pick: #1 (CADET RONI) (4-1) - Recent maiden winner was visually impressive that day when making easy work of a field of $40K claimers at this distance. It was her first for a tag and first in blinkers. Has the rail and can make it two in a row in this afternoon's opener.
2nd pick: #4 (Fast Magoo) (3-1) - The main speed, she's going turf to dirt, dropping a bit in class, and stretching back out a furlong. She tired here after setting a quick and pressured pace going 5-furlongs on the grass July 19. Home bred had finished second in her previous start on the dirt at this level and should be involved every step.
3rd pick: #3 (Alexita) (7-2) - Stalker has finished third in both starts at this level since coming from the east coast. She has talent, and is working fast for this attempt, presumably with the blinkers that trainer Pete Miller has her racing with for the first time.
4th pick: #5 (Yet Anotherkafwain) (6-1) - Lightly-raced and improving, Tommy Town home bred rallied to break her maiden here going 6.5-furlongs facing $50K Cal bred claimers Aug 2. Trainer Bill Morey has given her fourweeks of freshening and filly has a trio of sharp works heading into this attempt.
