Top pick: #6 (TURN ON THE BRITES) (9-2) - Strong finisher exits his best to date when he missed by a nose here at this level on Aug. 10. Four-year-old gelding defeated several of this afternoon's rivals that day and has worked fast since. If all go that are entered, Cal.-bred by "High Brite" will get a solid pace to rally into.
2nd pick: #2 (Stormin Lute) (4-1) - Colt "whistled" here on Aug. 15 to get his maiden win when racing for a $20K tag. Win came off almost a 100 day break and home-bred was claimed that day by Pete Miller. New trainer has had a very strong meet and he wins at a 19% rate first off the claim.
3rd pick: #3 (Brannaman) (7-2) - $500K yearling has been a huge disappointment and needed a drop to $40K to get his maiden win here on July 19th. He ran strongly at this level last out and was a bit over a length back of "Brites" after pressing a very quick pace. In the mix.
4th pick: #7 (Topper's Ghost) (5-1) - Gelding by "Old Topper" was bet down to favoritism when debuting here Aug. 15 and he rallied from just off the pace to win first out. Claimed that day by John Sadler for $50K he has him nicely spotted in his first for the new barn. Sadler wins at a 25% rate first off the claim, and at a 32% clip when riding Raf Bejarano.
