Top pick: #2 (STORMIN WILD) (9-2) - Colt tired after showing fine early speed when debuting here July 17th when facing tougher. Trainer Doug O'Neill adds blinkers, had him work a sharp half-mile from the gate on Aug. 2, and drops him in class. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Freaky Floyd) (7-2) - Heavily bet in his debut at Los Alamitos July 11th, he stumbled at the break, and after making a strong move turning for home, he weakened to finish third. He's worked well twice locally since then and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Player's Charm) (5-2) - Freshened up since the spring, gelding went 3-0-1-1 at Santa Anita at that time. One-run type is working well at Los Alamitos and is dropping into a claimer for the first time.
4th pick: #1 (Keegers) (6-1) - Gelding was much improved in his second start when blinkers were added by trainer Jeff Metz. He broke on top and held to finish second that afternoon and will be sent hard from his inside post. Can factor, but others seem more likely to win this.
