Top pick: #12 (MUSKET MAN ) - Lightly raced, talented, likes the distance, and he draws a nice outside post at this 7 furlong trip. Probably best last out in the "Carter" (G1) which he lost by a nose, colt returns to the scene of his third place finish in last year's Kentucky Derby. The horse to beat in a very good edition of this traditional "Derby Day" under-card stakes.
2nd pick: #7 (Warrior's Reward) - He's undefeated at this trip on real dirt (three for three) and is two for two this year. Likes the local strip (3-1-2-0) and has had this as his target since he went in for a rest last November. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #13 (Accredit) - He won last year's edition of this race and hasn't won since going (6-0-1-1) but that second-place finish was on this surface last fall to the talented "Custom For Carlos". Training sharply for a barn (Mike Maker) that's one of the best off of long layoffs (23%).
4th pick: #11 (Kensei) - He had a solid three-year-old season last year going (7-3-1-2) that included wins in the "Jim Dandy" (G2) and "Dwyer" (G2). He finished second in a sprint stakes at the Fair Grounds in late March, his first race in 5 1/2 months. Price play in the same race exotics.
