Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (GLOBAL CAMPAIGN) (6-1) - A lightly raced colt by 'Curlin,' he was a sharp winner going seven furlongs at Gulfstream while facing weaker on April 25. The race was his first since July 27, and he earned a big figure in a contest completed in a swift 1:21.60. He's worked fast twice since and should love today's one-turn mile. He gets a slim edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Silver Dust) (5-1) - This veteran had to rush up after a poor break to set the pace in the G2 New Orleans Handicap at the Fair Grounds on March 21. 6yo tired late to miss by 4.5 lengths to his talented barn-mate,'By My Standards.' He has a sharp local record (7-2-1-2), is 4-2-0-1 at this distance, and is a strong win candidate today.
3rd pick: #9 (Extrordinary Jerry) (15-1) - This 5yo had a fine 2019 as he went 8-3-1-2 facing weaker types. In his final start of last year, he won a stakes at today's two-turn mile distance by 10.5 lengths at Gulfstream in 1:35.60 on Sept. 28. On the sidelines since, he's working fast, and his stalking style should play well today.
4th pick: #8 (Owendale) (3-1) - I think this 4yo may go favored in this spot. When last in action Nov. 29, he rallied from far back to finish 2nd here going nine furlongs in the Clark Handicap (G1). Training above average for his return, this deep closer would be helped by a fast and/or contested pace.
