Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (FANCY LIQUOR) (5-2) - A son of 'Lookin At Lucky' he's been sharp in both starts and runs today off almost three months on the sidelines. A game and gutsy gate-to-wire debut winner going a mile on the Gulfstream turf Feb. 2, he then finished a pace-setting 3rd in a G3 stakes traveling nine furlongs on the Turfway all-weather surface March 14. I give him a slight edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Vintage Point) (2-1) - This son of 'Curlin' sold fora whopping $1,800,000 as a yearling back in Sept. of 2018 at Keeneland. He won his grass debut going a mile at Gulfstream Feb. 22, and Chad Brown has worked him six times since May 2. The figure earned in his maiden win was high, and this colt looks to have a bright future. A win candidate.
3rd pick: #5 (Elusive Ruler) (8-1) - This Whitney home-bred ships from Gulfstream where he broke his maiden going a mile May 2. It was his first start in 3.5 months, his first on the grass, and he is clearly improving. He has a recency edge on both 'Fancy Liquor' and 'Vintage Point' and is in the mix at a square price.
4th pick: #2 (Pleasecallmeback) (12-1) - This longshot is racing second back from a four-month layoff and does so off a private trainer change to Ed Kenneally, 14 of 56 (25%) with new arrivals in 2019-20. He's had excuses in both return starts at Gulfstream, draws a ground-saving post today, and runs with Lasix administered for the first time.
