Top pick: #6 (SHIPWRECK KELLY) (3-1) - Lightly-raced gelding has been bet in all three starts and has been an improved runner since coming off a 9 1/2 month layoff in early March. Four-year-old had some traffic issues when finishing third at Keeneland when racing for this $50K tag. He's worked twice since, moves off the rail, and gets a slight edge.
nd pick: #1 (Mr Pippins) (8-1) - He rallied to finish third when debuting March 20th at Oaklawn Park. In his follow up race April 11th, he tired while wide after breaking from an outside post (12th of 12). Both of those came facing special weights and trainer Chris Hartman will drop him into a claimer for the first time. Dangerous.
rd pick: #5 (Mighty Sky) (7-2) - Well bred gelding has been competitive in most of his starts 6-0-3-2 and is racing first off a claim. New barn had him gelded on April 25th and they move him up in class. One-run type is racing on conventional dirt for the first time and it's noted that J.J. Castellano is aboard.
th pick: #7 (It'salluptoyou) (10-1) - The field's only debuting maiden, he's been in steady training since late Dec. and is in a good barn (Mark Casse). Several of his works are of the quick variety and he may impact at a square price.
th pick: #8 (Boutineer Boy) (12-1) - He set/pressed the pace and held to check in third of 10, beaten three lengths when debuting March 28th at Tampa Bay Downs. Trainer Bill Bradley has worked him here three times since then and 3-year-old can't be eliminated.
