Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (DEAN MARTINI) (5-2) - He's been competitive in six of seven overall, and they all came against tougher. Speed/stalker finished 3rd at this distance April 11 at Oaklawn and worked fast there twice before shipping here. Trainer Brad Cox drops him into a claimer (a 24% winning angle), and he has Joel Rosario aboard. Lots to like.
2nd pick: #5 (Smirk) (8-1) - A home-bred by 'Blame,' he lacks early speed but is racing second back following a 3.5-month layoff, is switching from grass to dirt, and Bill Mott has him in a claimer for the first time. The colt has worked three times since his latest, and John Velazquez is getting aboard.
3rd pick: #1 (Elite Class) (6-1) - This NEW gelding by 'Will Take Charge' showed ability last Fall in Kentucky and ships from the Fair Grounds where he faced very tough fields earlier this year. He's worked five times since April 5, has the rail, is dropping in class, and this home-bred has more early speed than most. In the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Stock Deal) (20-1) - Longshot has shown little in four starts against tougher, and this $375,000 son of 'Curlin' is another racing in a claimer for the first time. One of two entered who were nominated for the 'Triple Crown' series, so he may have more ability than apparent so far.
