Top pick: #11 (CUSTOM FOR CARLOS) - Colt broke his maiden at this seven-furlong distance in his second start and then finished a "trouble" third when tackling stakes competition in the "Swale"(G2) also at seven furlongs, with both of those contests being at Gulfstream. Colt has a nice local breeze on April 25 and is nicely positioned in the gate for his stalking tactics. The pick.
2nd pick: #6 (Just Ben) - Impressive maiden win on the "Florida Derby" undercard as he broke slowly, rushed-up into contention, made the lead and drew away in very fast time. He's worked three times locally and is a win threat, though he can't spot this crew a head start.
3rd pick: #7 (Reynaldothewizard) - Expensive ($775,000) son of "Speighstown" broke his maiden on this course last July and has run in three stakes since that win. Goes today second back off almost a six-month break and moves back to conventional dirt. Threat at a square price from off the pace.
4th pick: #10 (Flavor) - Longshot moves back to real dirt after breaking his maiden on April 8 on the Keeneland poly. Nicely bred ("Elusive Quality"), he may just be coming around to his potential.
