Top pick: #7 (Cody's Wish) (4-5) - 1-mile or 7 furlongs hasn't mattered for speedy Cody's Wish winning four in a row. Jockey Jnior Alvarado will be atop again after riding this horse to victory in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile in not-so-great conditions including 23 MPH winds. That came on the heels of winning the Grade 1 Forego at Saratoga, upsetting reigning sprint champion Jackie's Warrior. Cody's Wish is six for seven as a post-time favorite, as well as finishing first in seven of eight.
2nd pick: #5 (Get Her Number) (12-1) - Stretching this horse out over a mile didn't work well, finishing ninth at the 2023 Pegasus World Cup. But in eight races at 7 Furlongs or less over the last calendar year, Get Her Number finished in the top three seven times. That included two second-place finishes in the Grade 1 2022 Cigar Mile and the Bing Crosby Stakes.
3rd pick: #10 (Endorsed ) (5-1) - This 7-year-old is a late bloomer, with an unremarkable career. That is, until the last three races, winning them all with three of the highest speed figures of the horse's career. The last time out, Endorsed won the Gulf Stream Park Mile at 5-to-1 overtaking 3-to-5 favorite Charge It. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione rode the win by 1 lengths and will be atop again. Endorsed also used a powerful stretch run to win the Fred W. Hooper Stakes by 2 3/4 lengths in January.
