Top pick: #5 (SACRED OVATION) - Lightly raced and speedy, he takes a big drop in price and moves back from the dirt to the all weather. Colt won a race on Oct. 12 at Santa Anita, but contest was declared a no contest. He'll be very tough to beat in this spot.
2nd pick: #11 (Warrior James) - Another who's lightly raced, he finished third at Fairplex facing special weights on Sept. 22 and has been freshened up since. Trainer Marty Jones drops him down and the presence of Bejarano signals that they like this colt's chances.
3rd pick: #10 (Mentalize) - He's been training on this surface since July and trainer John Sadler wins at a 22% rate with debuting runners and at a 23% clip when riding Marty Garcia. He need not be much to factor against these.
4th pick: #4 (Gaul) - Debuting gelding has been in steady training since mid-September and his trainer (Bob Diodoro) is capable of having one ready first out (15%).
